KSTK hosts a wide variety of music featuring local volunteer DJs that dish up hearty servings of the blues, classic rock, pop, adult alternative, classical, bluegrass, folk and country music both old and new. Whether listening for news, entertainment, or music, KSTK offers something for every listener.
KSTK is the LP-1 for Wrangell, meaning KSTK is the first primary contact for Emergency Alert Messages. KSTK is networked with the Alaska Rural Communications Emergency Alert System, National Weather Service and the nationwide IPAWS system to address the community in the event of a civic emergency or natural emergency including severe weather events. KSTK also provides less emergent, but locally relevant information regarding local power outages, road closures and other City of Wrangell Public Works, Electrical, or other departmental emergency announcements.
KSTK was originally founded in 1977 by the local nonprofit Wrangell Radio Group. CoastAlaska became the licensee in 2018 to help the station meet federal benchmarks for Non Federal Financial Support while remaining committed to local news and community information relevant to Wrangell.
