You need a permit to visit Anan from July 5th – August 25th. There are still permits available on recreation.gov for some days if you have your own boat/floatplane to get there. If there are no more permits available on recreation.gov for the day you are interested in, 4 permits each day are available through weekly lotteries. All lottery requests must be made in person at the Wrangell Ranger District office. Weekly requests will be collected by Mondays at 4:30 and awarded on Tuesdays by noon.
For Permits to Visit Anan: | Requests Accepted | Permits Awarded |

August 16 –22 | August 6 – 12 | August 13 |
- For those who will need to purchase transportation to Anan, contact an authorized guide directly for both passage and permits.
- Wildlife update from the Anan rangers—We often have a little mink running around the trailhead catching crabs. Lots of black bears still, a few brown bears, lots of fish, the gulls have started to come in, but the eagles are still around as well.
- The Anan Wildlife Bear Live Stream Cameras are now live on Explore.org!
