Position Announcement – Part Time KSTK Development Director
(20 hours / week – $23.99 hourly)
The Development Director is responsible for raising operating revenue for KSTK.
This is accomplished by:
- Seeking out and signing contracts with businesses and organizations for radio underwriting* messages.
- * Public radio stations air underwriting which is similar to, but different from, advertising that is heard on commercial radio stations.
- Planning and executing fundraising events, membership drives, raffles, and other special events that bring in revenue for the station.
Duties Include:
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a plan to seek corporate business financial support from local, regional, and statewide sources.
- Responsible for fulfilling an annual budget goal through businesses, corporation and non-profit sponsorship and underwriting.
- Prepares and maintains contracts.
- Writes and produces underwriting and non-profit donor announcements.
- Ensures radio underwriting and non-profit announcements are in compliance with FCC regulations and station guidelines.
- Insures proper logging and airing of announcements.
- Coordinates with General Manager and the KSTK team in planning and conducting all special events including membership drives, auctions and raffles.
- Communicates with other CoastAlaska Development Directors on underwriting, marketing and fundraising ideas.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
- Reports directly to the General Manager.
Position Qualifications:
- A positive relationship with Wrangell businesses, organizations and citizens. Or the ability to develop positive local relationships.
- Be a contributing team member. The KSTK team supports each other.
- Good professional appearance and public presentation skills.
- Good writing skills, familiar with proposal and/or grant writing.
- Experience in non-profit fundraising preferred.
- Physically able and willing to carry, transport, set up and break down anything needed for special events.
