Master weaver Delores Churchill is visiting Wrangell next week to teach a ten-day Tlingit/Haida weaving class. A recipient of many awards and honors, including the Rasmuson Foundation Distinguished Artist Award and the Governor’s Award for the Arts, Churchill is known for both her artistry skills and her teaching skills. Senator Stevens opposes Alaska-Canada border regulation

Starting January 31, new border crossing requirements will be imposed on Alaskans traveling from Canada back into the state. U.S. citizens crossing land and sea borders will have to present documentary proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, as well as a government-issued photo identification card. Alaska Airlines makes emergency landings in Ketchikan

Within one week, Alaska Airlines flight 64 had to make two emergency landings in Ketchikan due to a problem with the wing flaps. Southbound flight 64 runs daily between Anchorage and Seattle with stops in Juneau, Petersburg, Wrangell, and Ketchikan. KSTK's Lisa Phu files this report.
