The Wrangell Police Department is asking community members to participate in designing a new logo for two new patrol cars.

Police Chief Gene Meek said they’re currently working with the tribe, Wrangell Cooperative Association, to make sure everyone’s actively involved.

“Wrangell is very unique and I think those patrol cars should be a reflection of unique culture and diversity that’s here on this island,” he said. “So I’m excited to see those submissions because that will be what’s printed and put on our patrol cars.”

He said he wants the design to stand out because the Wrangell community stands out.

Meek said, “It will be affixed to our future vehicles going forward because we’re looking at possibly refitting our entire fleet within the next two, three years.”

Meek said that the contestants should keep in mind that the design will go on a Ford. It will be either an Explorer or F150.

“When we talk about graphics on cars, it will likely be on the front doors, the back doors and the hood of the vehicle,” he said. “It’ll say regular police on the back, but everything else is subject to that visualization.”

There’s no definite deadline yet, but Meek said it’s coming soon.

Interested candidates should send submissions to gmeek@wrangellpolice.org
