Wrangell’s unofficial municipal election results show that voters failed Ballot Proposition 1 with 197 in favor and 240 against. As a result, assembly board members will not be able to get compensated for sitting on the assembly during meetings.

Voters passed Ballot Proposition 2 with 325 in favor and 115 against. This means that the public accepts a $3 million loan for a portion of the cost to fix the Public Safety Building.

As for the mayoral race, 295 voters voted for incumbent Patty Gilbert to be mayor for the next two years. David Powell took 146 of the votes and there were two write-ins.

All of the other municipal seats are for three year terms.

For the two open seats on the Port Commission, 309 voters voted for Eric L. Yancey and incumbent Chris Buness with 215 votes. As for the other candidates: Antonio Silva received 181 votes and Tony Gugginbickler had 112 votes.

The two chosen candidates for school board are School Board Secretary Angela Allen with 329 votes and newcomer Dan Powers with 302 votes. One hundred sixty eight voters voted for Brittani Robbins.

Incumbents Bob Dalrymple with 318 votes and Jim DeBord with 365 votes will continue serving on the borough assembly for the next three years. There were 14 write-ins.

In total, 445 voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s municipal election and ninety-nine Wrangellites voted early. These election results will remain unofficial until the borough’s Canvass Board meets on Thursday in City Hall at 1p.m. The Borough Assembly will certify the results at a special board meeting Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m.
