Wrangellites have until August 30 to get their name on the local election ballot-that is if they want to run for school board, borough assembly, port commission or mayor.

As it currently stands Mayor Patty Gilbert was the first candidate to run for the mayor’s chair, a one-year term. As of Aug. 28, Vice-Mayor David Powell declared candidacy.

Additionally, two seats on the borough assembly are open. So far, two candidates have filed for those three-year seats– incumbents Bob Dalrymple and Jim DeBord.

The school board is also looking to fill two open seats this year.

School Board Vice-president Brittani Robbins and School Board Secretary Angela Allen and Dan Powers are the candidates on the ballot for the three-year terms. 

Lastly, the Port Commission has two open seats.  So far, Tony Guggenbickler was the first to sign up to run for a three-year term. As of Aug. 29, incumbent Chris Buness and Eric L. Yancey declared candidacy. Antonio Silva declared candidacy on Aug. 30.

The deadline to file for candidacy is Friday at 4pm. Filing paperwork is available at  the Borough Clerk’s office.
