Wrangell’s Emergency Operations Center was notified on Friday August, 20, 2021 of three new positive COVID cases. All three are Wrangell residents and are symptomatic. One individual is a close contact to a recently identified case, the COVID exposure source for the other two individuals is unknown. All three are isolating. The current number of known active cases in Wrangell is 22.

Wrangell EOC recommends:

Continue practicing basic mitigation measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:
• Isolate yourself if you feel any cold-like symptoms and get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.
• If you are unvaccinated:
o Avoid crowded places and gatherings; keep social circles small.
o Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household.
o Have a mask on when you are around people outside of your household – even if you can maintain a 6-foot distance from others.
o Take advantage of free, asymptomatic testing and test regularly.
• Wash your hands often and disinfect commonly touched surfaces and objects.
• If you are vaccinated:
o Consider wearing a mask in indoors when outside your home.
o Take advantage of free, asymptomatic testing and test regularly.
