An individual has tested positive for COVID-19 in Wrangell, city officials said Wednesday night. The case is one of two known active cases in town.
The city did not report the residency of the individual, and did not say whether the case is symptomatic. Officials reported the individual is in isolation but that initial contact tracing has not been completed.
This new case brings Wrangell’s total reported cases of COVID-19 to 35 since the onset of the pandemic in March of last year.
Free asymptomatic COVID-19 testing is available to the community every day at the airport during jet arrivals (around 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.).
