Wrangell’s local tribal elections have been postponed amid an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the community.
The yearly election for the Wrangell Cooperative Association’s tribal council was scheduled to take place today (Monday, March 1).
Tribal council members are elected for two-year terms, with half of the board up for election each spring.
The tribe has not yet announced when elections will be rescheduled.
This is the second year in a row that the WCA’s spring elections have been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. Elections scheduled for March of 2020 were delayed until November of 2020.
