Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with two graduating seniors, Coby Holder and Laura Helgeson. WHS seniors have had their classes, end-of-year events, and futures disrupted. Laura plans to attend Portland State University in the fall. Coby has moved into his own apartment recently and plans to work and coach swimming for a year before heading to college. He says the pandemic is much of the reason why he’s sticking around. He says now is not the time to be away from his family and head down south, where infection rates are clearly higher. Both seniors are fairing well with online classes and virtual and social distancing celebrations. And they both say their future is bright overall.
