Talk on the Rock is KSTK’s live call-in show. Every Tuesday at 1pm we welcome a local guest to discuss events and topics of interest to our little island town. For this week’s episode, host June Leffler spoke with Nolan Center Director Cyni Crary about our local movie theater and how it works. Castle Mountain Entertainment was started in 2005 as a student project. Before then, Wrangell had a few other movie venues: the 49th star, the Coliseum, and the Rex (which began around the turn of the century).
Crary told us about how the Nolan Center gets its movies. She works with a booker down south who is connected to all the major, and some lesser known, studios. And that within the last ten years, the theater made the switch from film reels to digital formats. Crary also talked about balancing between movies that will pack seats and those that add some diversity to our movie selection.
This Saturday and Sunday (no showing Friday) Castle Mountain Entertainment will show Glass (PG-13) at 7:00PM each night.
