Two people have been killed in a single car accident in Wrangell, according to the local police department.
A car driving north towards town went over an embankment near the bridge by Pat’s Lake. A resident in the area noticed brush debris in the area yesterday evening. When that person went to clean the brush, they saw the car in the embankment and called the police. The police and EMTS responded to the scene last evening around 6PM. But they say the incident must have occurred the night before around midnight.
The police are still conducting an investigation on the cause, but say accelerated driving is likely a factor.
Two surviving passengers in the car have been medevacked for treatment. The police are not releasing the names of the injured and deceased until all next of kin are contacted.
The community is hosting several fundraisers this week for the family affected.
