District 36 independent Rep. Dan Ortiz was in Wrangell over the weekend to talk with residents about possible solutions to the state budget deficit. Ortiz represents Wrangell, Ketchikan and a few other Southeast communities in the Alaska House of Representatives. It was his first visit to Wrangell since the legislative session ended.
Ortiz told KSTK’s Katarina Sostaric the state will have to find a way to make some money to offset the major budget deficit. He wanted to ask his constituents how they think the state should generate new revenue.
