Next week, Wrangell’s hydroelectric power will be shut off for annual maintenance and repair work. Wrangell will run on diesel generators from May 26 through June 3, so there will be a fuel surcharge. Wrangell Light and Power Superintendent Clay Hammer is encouraging residents to cut down on electricity use during the diesel run to minimize the impact on their electricity bills.
