High School students from all over Southeast Alaska were in Wrangell Friday and Saturday for a Drama, Debate and Forensics meet.
Wrangell High School DDF Coach Sydney Reed said the meet went smoothly.
“I am very incredibly pleased with the team,” Reed said. “We had four kids who were competing this weekend; two of them went to finals.”
Benjamin Florschutz took first place in extemporaneous commentary and fourth place in original oratory.
Shawn Howell won first place for humorous interpretation. He performed again at the end of the command performances Saturday night.
Reed said the meet was a community-wide effort.
“Thank you to the community for all the support they provided through the hospitality room and timing and all of the judges,” Reed said.
The next DDF meet is in Ketchikan in December.
