Wrangell was one of 123 communities in Alaska Thursday afternoon to ‘March for Respect’ in an effort to standup against domestic violence and sexual assault. Young and old crowded the sidewalks of Wrangell’s Church Street with signs and loud cheers challenging all Alaskans to end the epidemic of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. KSTK’s Charlotte Duren attended the march and filed this audio postcard.
Wrangell Mayor Jeremy Maxand has proclaimed March 31st, 2012 “Choose Respect Day” and encourages all community members to standup against abuse and sexual assault and to promote a renewed sense of hope, security, and opportunities to Alaskans.
