WRANGELL, ALASKA While Wrangell's Tyee Lake hydroelectric facility is conducting its annual shut down for maintenance, the city has to run on diesel generators. Since getting power from diesel generators is more costly than getting power from Tyee, the city implements a fuel surcharge to cover the difference.
