Rural mayors say energy costs limiting economy

JUNEAU, ALASKA (2010-02-05) The biggest economic hurdle in rural Alaska is high energy costs. That was the message from about 50 elected officials who took part in the recent Alaska Conference of Mayors meeting. The conference was part of the Alaska Municipal League’s annual legislative meeting in Juneau. One of AML’s priorities for this session is a statewide energy plan for local communities.
