WRANGELL (2010-03-01) The Wrangell Chamber of Commerce will host the 2010 King Salmon Derby according to plan. While the organization is able to put on the Derby, other Wrangell events like the Fourth of July Celebration and Harvest Fest are in limbo due to the Chamber's recent financial situation. Motor vehicle use maps cause stir in Wrangell

WRANGELL (2010-02-11) Even though they are unavailable in the Wrangell Ranger District, Wrangellites are not responding well to the release of this year's motor vehicle use maps. Many are worried that some roads will be restricted to certain vehicles. Others think that some roads will be closed all together. KSTK's Tony Gorman has more.

Wrangell and Petersburg officials had hope to meet with the Angoon City Council over regional energy issues. Wrangell to Send Rep to Angoon

WRANGELL (2010-02-01) Wrangell has officially agreed to send a representative along with a Petersburg official to Angoon to talk energy issues with its City Council. One of the topics of discussion is the controversial Ruth Lake permit. The communities and its lawmakers have been at odds over the permit since the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission awarded the permit to Angoon. KSTK's Tony Gorman has more.

Rep. Peggy Wilson Focuses on Transportation and Redistricting during 2010 Session

WRANGELL (2010-01-20) Representative Peggy Wilson has a lot on her plate going into this year's legislative session. After working to improve Alaska's health, education, and social services systems, the Wrangell Republican will shift her focus to the transportation system. Wilson's district consists of Wrangell, Petersburg, and Sitka and smaller communities like Port Alexander and Elfin Cove. That list could grow after this year's Census. KSTK's Tony Gorman has more on how Wilson plans to tackle these issues along with bringing more land to the Borough of Wrangell.
