Wrangell votes yes to boroughhood

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-05-07) According to unofficial results, Wrangell will become a borough. The over-two year process came to a tentative end the evening of Tuesday, May 6, when a state board convened and counted the election ballots. Sealaska holds community shareholder meeting in Wrangell

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-05-07) Sealaska shareholders in Wrangell had the opportunity to meet Sealaska directors and management during a shareholder community meeting held in Wrangell last Friday. Over a hundred community members turned out for the luncheon and presentation.
Senior projects benefit students and community

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-05-07) There are thirty students in this year's high school senior class. With graduation taking place on May 17, these students have a lot to look forward to. But before they officially graduate, each of them had to complete a senior project. Senior projects are designed to teach the students how to present in front of the public. Another requirement is the project must benefit the Wrangell community. This past Monday night, half the senior class presented their projects to the public at the high school commons. KSTK caught up with four seniors.
Wednesday workouts until 8 pm

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-05-05) Through the Wrangell Parks and Rec and the Healthy Wrangell Coalition, the parks and rec facility will now be extending their Wednesday night hours another two hours until 8 pm. This is just one component of the recently formed coalition which aims to make Wrangell a healthier community.
Polaris Management intends to buy Wrangell sawmill

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-05-05) Wrangell's timber industry may get another chance at life with the help of Polaris Management. Since last year, representatives of Polaris have been in discussion with Dick Buhler about buying the Wrangell sawmill. And they approached the city council at a special meeting last Thursday with a request for financial assistance.

City of Wrangell employees join union

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-04-30) Earlier this month, the Wrangell city council approved a collective bargaining agreement between the city of Wrangell and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, or IBEW. This means that over 20 city workers are now part of a union.
Many help Wrangell dedicate new harbor

WRANGELL, ALASKA (2008-04-28) The dedication of Wrangell's Heritage Harbor took place on April 25. A crowd of about fifty people were present including members of city staff and city officials. Representatives from the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Transportation were on hand to give speeches, as were representative Peggy Wilson, senator Bert Stedman, and former governor Frank Murkowski.
