Wrangell Search and Rescue found the body of 58-year-old Salvatore Bruno near Etolin Island last night, according to the Coast Guard. The body was found at 6:30 p.m.
Coast Guard Sector Juneau received notification at 2:30pm that day that Bruno’s skiff and canoe were turned over in Olive Cove near Etolin Island. Bruno owned a cabin at Olive Cove.
A Coast Guard helicopter and cutter were deployed.
Wrangell Search and Rescue searched by air, but the ground team found the body on foot at the shoreline.
Weather at the time of the search was 10-knot winds, 2-foot seas, 7-mile visibility, air temperature of 50 degrees and a water temperature of 46 degrees.
